European Commission: Strategies and recommendations for the resumption of travel and the relaunch of European tourism
The European Commission has presented a series of guidelines and recommendations for tourists, travelers and businesses with the aim of enabling citizens to go on vacation and make up for lost time with friends and family, tourism businesses to reopen after months of lockdowns and Member States to phase out travel restrictions, while respecting the necessary health precautions.
The package includes an overall strategy, a common approach to restore free movement, a framework to support transport, a recommendation on travel vouchers and a series of criteria to relaunch tourism.
The flexible approach that allows tourism to continue to function is based on: epidemiological criteria, the application of containment measures and considerations of an economic nature and concerning social distancing.
